Witnesses who helped mobility scooter driver sought

TWO people who helped an injured man and other witnesses are being asked to come forward to help police find out more about the incident.

Police in Doncaster are appealing for information about the 57-year-old’s death after he was found injured in the road.

The man was found close to the junction with Doncaster Road and Clayfield Road in Mexborough at around 1.15pm on September 14.

His red and white Honda Cub scooter was found nearby.

He was taken to hospital where he was treated for minor injuries, but died five days later on September 19.

A spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Police said: “Police would like to speak to a man and a woman who are believed to have stopped to help the man before the ambulance arrived.

“Officers would also like to speak to anyone who saw the incident or the 57-year-old man on the scooter before he was found.

“At this time, no other vehicles are believed to have been involved but police are keeping an open mind as they investigate how the man came to be injured.”
