Two more arson attacks in buildings overnight

FIREFIGHTERS spent two hours tackling two deliberate blazes overnight in buildings in Masbrough and Balby.

Crews from Rotherham and Parkway spent over an hour at a derelict building on Union Street, Masbrough after being called at 8.36pm. 

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said: “Upon arrival, they found a large amount of rubbish on fire inside a derelict building. This was dealt with by 9.58pm and is thought to have been started deliberately.”

Crews were later called to Balby Road, Balby, at 11.42pm to deal with a “well alight” detached garage. 

The spokesperson added: “This was dealt with by 12.43am and is thought to have been started deliberately, by someone who pushed a wheelie bin up against the garage door and set it on fire.”
