Two more arrests over street attack on granddad, 81

TWO more men have been arrested in connection with the street attack on an 81-year-old man on his way to the mosque.

Mushin Ahmed (pictured) was attacked in Fitzwilliam Road, Eastwood, early last Monday morning.

Det Chief Insp Zaf Ali, from South Yorkshire Police's Crime Unit, said a 29-year-old man from the Dalton area was arrested yesterday and a 24-year-old Thrybergh man this morning.

“Both men remain in police custody on suspicion of section 18 assault causing grievous bodily harm with intent,” added.

Mr Ahmed, from East Dene, suffered life-threatening injuries in the attack and remained in a critical but stable condition in hospital today.

Two men have already appeared at court in connection with the assault.
