A police spokeswoman said: “It is believed that the student was on his own, talking on his mobile phone, whilst walking along Brunswick Road, Broom.

“On reaching the flats towards the bottom of Brunswick Road, he was allegedly stopped by the man and boy.

“Reports suggest that the student has been grabbed and a struggle has taken place, before his iPhone was taken.”

The teenager fled to nearby shops following the incident before police were called.
