Stolen car found dumped in river

A STOLEN vehicle was found dumped in a river before three hooded men were seen fleeing the scene.

Police were alerted to the incident at 9.23pm last night to a report of a car in the river off Centenary Way near to Dodds Close.

Officers attended the scene and no-one was found in the silver coloured Vauxhall Corsa.

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police said: “Arrangements are being made with the relevant agency to recover the vehicle, which had been stolen from an address in Canklow earlier in the evening.

“Three men wearing dark coloured hoodie-type tops and grey jogging bottoms were seen to run from the scene in the direction of Canklow.”

Police are appealing for any witnesses who saw the vehicle enter the water or have any information to contact police via 101 and quoting incident number 1182 from September 23.
