Six arrested in Rotherham as part of "dedicated" police action

SIX people have been arrested and one man charged for a variety of criminal offences following a number of days of "dedicated action" by police in the town.

Trevor Miller, 31, of Highmoor Avenue, Kiveton Park, was arrested and charged with theft from motor vehicle yesterday and remanded in custody to appear before Rotherham Magistrates’ Court today.

A warrant was executed yesterday at a property in Hawthorne Road, Wath, leading to the seizure of quantities of Class A and B drugs and the recovery of a significant sum of money.

A local man has been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A and B drugs as a result of the raid.

A 28-year-old man was arrested by response officers for prison recall. He has been returned to custody.

Safer Neighbourhood officers also arrested a 34-year-old woman for failing to attend at court.

In addition, a 32-year-old man was arrested for breach of bail conditions.

Temporary Detective Inspector Steve Brookes said: “We are working hard to crack down on crime in Rotherham.

“We have planned a number of days of dedicated action to tackle all kinds of criminality in Rotherham and further work is planned to reassure our communities that we will take robust action to deal with criminals in our town.”

A further two men were arrested on suspicion of fraud at a local supermarket. They have been released on bail while enquiries are ongoing.
