Second woman named following three-vehicle fatal collision

POLICE have named a second of the three women who died when their car was in collision with two other vehicles.

Music teacher Barbara Twigg (66), from Doncaster, was a passenger travelling in a red Toyota Aygo with two other women.

One of women was Diana Hunt (58) from Hatfield and the third, a 76-year-old woman who was also killed, has not yet been named by police.

Their car was involved in a collision with a black Ford Focus and a van close to the entrance with Maltby colliery on Tickhill Road last Thursday (November 26) at around 5.30pm.

Barbara’s family has issued the following statement: “Barbara was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother who was taken from us prematurely.

“Words cannot express how much she will be missed.

“Mum was a talented musician and teacher, and recently retired from running the Yamaha music school in Doncaster where she also had many students.

“We urge anyone with information to come forward to South Yorkshire Police.”

Specialist officers are support the women’s families.

The 28-year-old male driver of the Focus was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The male driver of the van was not injured.
