Police remain on guard at murder scene

POLICE officers are continuing to stand guard outside a murder scene almost two days after a body was found inside a house.

Investigations into the alleged murder of a 48-year-old man are on-going after a body was found in a property on Auckland Road, Mexborough, at 1.45pm on Sunday.

A 44-year-old man, who has not been named, was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody today.

Officers cordoned off an area around the property as well as an alley way and nearby field as investigations continued.

Adwick Road shops were also closed for part of yesterday as forensic teams carried out a full search of the scene.

Police have yet to name the victim who is believed to be from the Mexborough area.
