Police dog sniffs out cash and evidence after burglary at Balby pharmacy

KEEN-nosed police dog Diesel and his handler sniffed out dumped money and till receipts in a skip after a pharmacy break-in in Balby.

The pair were called after reports of the incident on Sandford Road on Monday night. 

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said PD Diesel had “immediately put his nose to the test”.

They added: "Our general purpose dogs are trained to follow scents that assist officers in apprehending suspects, find property or evidence, or missing people.

“PD Diesel followed a scent to a nearby skip where he indicated something was present and officers found clothing that had been discarded. 

“He then continued tracking (following the scent) and found money and till receipts from the pharmacy.” 

Enquiries are ongoing to find those responsible. Anyone with information is asked to report through the online portal or call 101 quoting incident number 89 of March 6.
