Man dies after pub brawl

POLICE have launched a murder investigation after a 45-year-old Dinnington man died in an incident at a Maltby pub.

The man, who has not yet been named, died after sustaining a serious head injury in the incident at the Don Jon Hotel at 10pm yesterday.

It is believed a number of people were involved in a fight at the pub.

The injured man was taken to Rotherham District General Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

A 35-year-old Maltby man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Officers investigating the incident are appealing for anyone who was in the Don Jon pub or nearby pubs on Sunday evening, or anyone with information that may assist to call South Yorkshire Police immediately on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
