Gunman bank robber escapes on bicycle

A MAN who slipped a note to a bank cashier and then made off with cash after apparently threatening her with a gun is being hunted by police.

The bank robber struck at the Halifax bank on Howard Street, Rotherham, at around 4.30pm on Friday before fleeing on a bicycle.

Police have now released a CCTV picture of the man and are appealing for the public’s help in tracking him down

The man had light brown hair and pale skin and spoke with what is thought to be an Eastern European accent.

He was wearing a blue hooded coat with which may have had motifs on the right arm and the left of the chest, dark trousers which may have had a motif on the left thigh and black Nike trainers.

The suspect was also carrying a cream drawstring bag with a round logo on it.

The spokeswoman added: “Police would like to speak to the man pictured as he may hold vital information that can assist officers with their investigation.

“Anyone with information should contact South Yorkshire Police by dialling 101 and quoting incident number 834 of November 9.”
