Gun threat during robbery at newsagent

A NEWSAGENT staff member was left “extremely shaken” after being threatened with a gun during a robbery.

Police are hunting a man who took the cash register from Windells, on Doncaster Road in Mexborough.

He wore a black mask with eye holes during the incident shortly before 7pm last Thursday. Officers believe there was £100 in the register.

The offender is described as white, 5ft 11ins and medium build. He was wearing a black hooded top with a white zip and white tassels from the hood, black jogging bottoms with three white horizontal stripes across the knees and white gloves.

A police spokeswoman said: “He is thought to have left the shop towards Hirst Gate. There are a number of businesses and houses along Doncaster Road and officers are appealing for anyone who may have seen anything suspicious at the time of the incident to get in touch.

“No-one was injured but the staff member was left extremely shaken by the incident.”
