FIREFIGHTERS were called out when a garden fire got out of control in Clifton on last night.

Residents have been urged to take extra care after the incident on Eastwood Mount, when flames damaged guttering and an outbuilding.

A fire service spokesman said: “Garden fires can easily spread if left unattended or sited too close to property.

“The safest advice is not to have a garden fire at all, but if you are intent on having one please make sure you build the fire well away from sheds, fences, trees and other property.

“Don’t burn anything which could produce toxic fumes, such as tyres, foams or plastics.”
