Firefighters tackle spate of car fires

FIREFIGHTERS tackled three suspected arson attacks on vehicles and one on a shed this weekend.

Staff from Rotherham station attended a burning Ford Fiesta on Shaw Road at 11.45pm on Friday, leaving the scene around half an hour later.

A crew from Dearne station went to Barnsley Road, Wombwell, at 2.05am on Saturday, where a shed was on fire. They left 50 minutes later.

One appliance from Dearne station attended a van fire on Hamilton Road, Maltby, at 2.50am on Saturday, leaving around 40 minutes later.

Rotherham station attended another car fire on Upper Wortley Road, Kimberworth, at 2am on Monday. They left the scene at 2.55am.

One crew from Aston station also tackled a vehicle fire on Wharton Avenue, Swallownest, at 1.45am on Sunday.

It left the scene at 2.30am — the cause of the fire is currently unknown.
