Firefighters tackle chiminea blaze

FIREFIGHTERS put out a burning shed and conifers after embers from a garden fire set them alight.

One crew from Rotherham station attended a home on Hall Close Avenue, Whiston, at 7.15pm on Saturday.

A chiminea had been used to burn rubbish, but embers had blown out and alighted on nearby objects.

Firefighters left the scene at around 8pm. No injuries were reported.

Rotherham station attended a car fire on Fenton Road, Kimberworth Park at around 1am on Saturday.

One crew put out a Vauxhall Corsa, which is thought to have been set alight deliberately, leaving the scene at around 1.30am.

Staff from the same station put out a large pile of burning skip waste at a goods yard in Parkgate on Saturday.

They attended the commercial property on Midland Street at around 7pm, staying until around 9pm. The fire is thought to have been started deliberately.

Rotherham station crew also attended another car fire at around 9.30pm on Sunday.

One crew tackled a burning Vauxhall Vectra on Blackburn Road, leaving the scene at about 10pm. The fire is thought to have been set deliberately.
