Fire, police and paramedics called after water rescue at Canklow

ONE person is being looked after by paramedics after emergency services were called to reports of someone “potentially entering” the River Rother earlier this morning.

South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said its officers had been called at 8.25am to "reports of someone potentially entering the water" near Canklow Bridge on Bawtry Road.

A spokesperson said: “We mobilised four appliances, including specially trained water rescue crews, and have been on scene this morning with police and ambulance colleagues.”

One person is now being taken care of by paramedics, but they are not believed to have suffered serious injuries, they added. 

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said it was a “mental-health related incident” which was “resolved” by 9.30am.
