Driver arrested and 81-year-old passenger in hospital after three-car collision

THE driver of a car involved in a three-car collision, which injured three people including an 81-year-old passenger, has been arrested.

Police made the arrest after being called to the three-car collision on Bawtry Road in Brinsworth at 1.15pm on Wednesday (September 6).

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: “It is reported that a grey Citroen C3 joined Bawtry Road from Pavilion Lane and collided with a grey Peugeot 208.

“The driver of the Peugeot 208 is then believed to have collided with a grey Peugeot 3008 travelling in the opposite direction.

“A passenger in the Peugeot 3008, a 81 year-old woman, suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital by ambulance, where she remains in a serious but stable condition.

“The driver, a 58 year-old woman suffered minor injuries.

“The driver of the Peugeot 208, a 53 year-old woman, suffered minor injuries.

“The driver of the Citroen C3, a 45 year-old man was arrested at the scene for driving while over the prescribed limit of alcohol and dangerous driving causing serious injuries.

“The driver has since been bailed with conditions.”

Officers are appealing for witnesses and those with dashcam footage or information to come forward.
