Domestic appliances cause Rotherham fires

DOMESTIC appliances were the cause of several fires South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue were called out to recently.

A tumble dryer in a garage of a detached house on Gower Way, Rawmarsh, caused a blaze on Thursday, January 9 just after 4pm.

Crews from Rotherham and Dearne attended and found the garage was well alight on arrival.

Firefighters used breathing apparatus and a hose reel to put the fire out and there were no casualties.

Later in the evening an electric meter overheated at a Barleycroft Lane property in Dinnington at 9.20pm.

The electricity board were also called to the accidental fire and the crew from Anston left just after 10pm.

An hour later a light fitting at a nursing home on Millard Lane, Maltby, started smouldering and crews from Maltby visited the scene.
