MORE than 300 cannabis plants have been seized in a drugs bust today as part of a dedicated day of police action.

MORE than 300 cannabis plants have been seized in a drugs bust today as part of a dedicated day of police action "targeting known criminality".

The plants were discovered in an old animal rescue centre on High Street in Goldthorpe earlier this afternoon.

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: “As part of today’s district-wide day of action, officers from our Barnsley South East Neighbourhood Policing Team dismantled a cannabis set-up containing 320 full-size plants in the Goldthorpe area.

“This is part of planned enforcement activity as part of the day that targets known criminality.

“No arrests have been made at present and enquiries are ongoing.”
