Cheeky thieves steal defrosting cars

THREE cars in a month have been stolen in Rotherham after the drivers left the vehicle to warm up with keys in the ignition.

Police have reminded motorists to be extra vigilant ahead of the snow forecast for this weekend.

“Unsecured cars are enticing opportunist thieves to take them when the owner has left the car unattended, unlocked, with keys in the ignition and the engine running.

“If cars are stolen in this way your insurance may be invalidated.

“Please also remember to allow extra time to fully de-frost your car and drive carefully in icy conditions.”

A woman in Wath was reunited with her vehicle after it was stolen with the keys in the ignition.

The other two incidents involved work vans stolen from Dinnington and near Rotherham Interchange.
