Busy bank holiday weekend for firefighters

FIRE crews attended several fires over the bank holiday weekend.

Cudworth firefighters attended Park Street, Wombwell at 7.40pm on Saturday.

They extinguished burning rubbish, leaving the scene 35 minutes later. The cause of the fire is not yet known.

One crew from Cudworth station attended Castlewell, Conisbrough at 11.25am on Sunday, when a pan left on a stove caused smoke damage to a kitchen.

They left the scene half an hour later — no injuries were reported.

Cudworth station firefighters also attended Pearson Crescent in Wombwell at 4.50pm on Monday.

They put out a grass fire, which is thought to have been started deliberately. They left after 30 minutes.

One crew from Aston station attended New Street in Dinnington at 1.25am on Tuesday, when a tree was ablaze.

They left around half an hour later. The fire is thought to have been started deliberately.
