Baseball bat wielding robber caught on CCTV

POLICE have released CCTV of a robber who threatened shop staff with a baseball bat.

The images show the suspect entering JA and S Windles off Doncaster Road, Mexborough, and wielding the weapon.

The man, who has a distinctive tattoo on his hand, made off with cash and cigarettes on New Year’s Day.

Police said the man had been into the shop minutes before to ask for the time.

He left on foot, possibly in the direction of Hirst Gate.

Anyone who recognises the man or has information about the incident, which happened at 7.50am, to call 101 quoting incident 671 of January 1.
