Bank robbers "hit woman with her own car" as they escaped

A WOMAN was hit by her own car after two men brandishing shotguns carjacked her as they escaped the scene of an attempted armed bank raid.

The woman, aged in her 40s, was getting into her car on Industry Street, Parkgate, when two masked gunmen stole it.

The incident happened after the two men carried out a raid on nearby Yorkshire Bank, Broad Street, just minutes before.

As they tried to escape, they then hit the woman with the car, leaving her with serious injuries, police said.

A spokeswoman said the men had entered the bank at around 8.50am on Friday.

The duo - who were brandishing shotguns - assaulted a worker at the bank and stole cash.

A police spokesman said other members of staff had been left “shaken and distressed” by the incident but were not injured.
