Church’s battle against loneliness

St John’s Methodist Church, on Church Street in Swinton, is starting up its six-week Freedom Project from next Monday, running until March 7, and aims to offer something for everyone.

A number of courses will be run on Mondays from 6.30pm which will include a job club to help people back into work, an Alpha Course to teach about Christianity, special classes to welcome new people to the church, and a club promoting crafts.

All will be in different rooms at the church.

There is no charge for any of the courses.

Rev Alistair Sharp (pictured) said the Freedom Project aimed to tackle loneliness in the community by getting people involved in the sessions.
