Car park makes way for £3.46m youth development

AN Eastwood car park is to permanently close this Sunday to make way for a £3.46 million facility for young people.

The 39-space car park next to the Cat and Cabbage pub on St Ann's Road, will close permanently to allow building work to start on site of the My Place project led by the Chantry YMCA.

Regular users of the car park are being advised that spaces are available on the York Road, Rawson Road and Cottenham Road car parks, which are all off neighbouring Fitzwilliam Road.

The new 'facility is being funded by the Big Lottery Fund and is a partnership project between differet groups, including the voluntary sector and Rotherham Borough Council, whose architects department has designed the building.

Wildgoose Construction is due to start on site next Tuesday.
