Boy arrested in ‘knife’ incident investigation

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of threatening behaviour following an incident in Mexborough.

At around 11.30am last Friday police received reports that three males were acting suspiciously outside Cash Express on Main Street.

One male was reported to be holding a knife.

It is alleged that the group had threatened another man who went into the store for protection.

When officers arrived at the scene, the males had left the location. The 16-year old was apprehended following a search of the area.

The teenager is being interviewed by police and enquiries are ongoing.
