Blind Veterans charity ‘Saluted’ by Chamber of Commerce

A CHARITY which supports veterans has been given a boost after being chosen for an award by business leaders.

The organisation has been chosen as part of the Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber of Commerce’s Salute to Business Awards.

Blind Veterans UK – which helps blind and vision-impaired ex-servicemen and women – is one of five organisations to receive the Salute to Business Award for long-standing businesses in recognition of its centenary year.

In South Yorkshire, Blind Veterans UK currently helps more than 200 blind and vision-impaired veterans and their families through free training, rehabilitation, equipment and emotional support.

Andrea Hudson, north regional fundraiser for Blind Veterans UK, said: “Blind Veterans UK are delighted to receive this prestigious award from the Chamber as we celebrate our milestone anniversary.

“We support more veterans than at any previous point in our 100 year history, while relying on the support and commitment of our fundraisers and volunteers.”
