Bin collection details

BARNSLEY Council have issued details of its bin collection activities over the festive period.

Dearne Valley residents in the Barnsley borough who were due to have their bins collected on Christmas Day should leave them out on December 27.

Those with collections due on Boxing Day will have their bins collected on December 29.

Collections for New Year’s Day have been moved to January 3.

Clinical waste collections, meanwhile, will also be moved to Christmas Eve, December 27 and New Year’s Eve.

A spokesman for Barnsley Council said: “People are reminded that any Christmas wrapping paper which contains foil or is covered in glitter cannot be recycled and should be placed in the grey bin.

“Plain Christmas cards can be placed in the blue bin for recycling but any cards with glitter or foil on them should be placed in the grey bin.”

Christmas trees can be recycled at any of the borough's household waste and recycling sites, which are open every day of the year except Christmas day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.
