Bargain-hunters out in force at Meadowhall

THOUSANDS of shoppers descended on Meadowhall yesterday for what the shopping centre's bosses say was the busiest Boxing Day on record.

Bargain-hunters started queuing at 2.30am and around 150,000 people were expected to have visited the centre during the day.

Next was the first retailer to open at 6am with Debenhams, House of Fraser and Marks & Spencer lifting their shutters at 7am.

Luxury goods including leather handbags, designer clothes and accessories, perfume sets, shoes and electronics were among the best selling items.
