Baby boy for tragic soldier's widow

THE BROTHER of fallen soldier James Leverett proudly announced “James Leverett’s back in town” this week as his brother’s widowed partner gave birth to a son.

Tiffany Lound vowed to name him James, after his father, when an emotional visit to hospital the day after news of James’ tragic death in Southern Afghanistan revealed that she would be having a boy.

At 10.30am on Tuesday morning, baby James was born at The Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Sheffield, weighing 5lb 3oz.

This week, messages of goodwill flooded onto James Leverett’s profile on Facebook.

The web page has remained open as a tribute to James since he was killed on July 5.

The Royal Dragoons Trooper, of St Nicolas Road, Rawmarsh, died when the armoured vehicle he was travelling in was blown up by a roadside bomb.

One of the first comments to be posted on Facebook this week was from James’ younger brother, Neville.

He said: “James Leverett’s back in town.

“I’m going to be the best uncle to him Jim and we’re going to make you so proud.

I’m going to always look after him and Tiff.

“I miss you like you don’t even know brother. All my love, lil nev xxxxx.”

Anthony Lound said that baby James was making good progress in hospital but had been born with a stomach condition which is preventing him from feeding properly.

While it is understood that Tiffany (18), of Mallory Avenue, Rawmarsh, could be home on Sunday (29), baby James will be transferred to Sheffield’s Royal Hallamshire hospital, where he could remain for several weeks.
