Appeal to locate 999 caller as detectives investigate death of man

THE body of a man has been discovered at a property and police are trying to locate the 999 caller who reported the death to police.

South Yorkshire Police were called at around 12.05pm yesterday (April 21) to a property in Cavendish Road, Masbrough, where the body of a man was discovered.

Police received a call from an anonymous caller, a man who they believe used a phone box in the College Road area of Masbrough.

A spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Police said the deceased man had not yet been formally identified and the investigation was in its very early stages.

She added: “A forensic post mortem examination is yet to take place.

“Enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.”

Officers said they want to urgently identify the anonymous 999 caller and would ask anyone who saw a man using a telephone kiosk in this area yesterday lunchtime to call police on 101 quoting incident number 376 of April 21.
