Rotherham man arrested in 'samurai sword' drama

Police arrest a man after a disturbance in Coleridge Road, Eastwood.

THIS is the dramatic moment when Rotherham police officers arrested a man who allegedly confronted them with a samurai-style sword.

Officers were called to Coleridge Road, Eastwood, shortly after 1pm on Saturday after reports of a disturbance in the area.

A police spokesman confirmed that man had been brandishing a “samurai-style sword” before he was safely detained by officers.

Yesterday Lee Sanaghan (39), from Coleridge Road, appeared before Rotherham Magistrates’ Court charged with offences including aggravated burglary, criminal damage, affray, being in possession of an offensive weapon and common assault on a police officer.

He was been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
