Two trapped in wreckage

TWO injured drivers had to be cut free by firefighters after a crash in Eastwood this morning.

A Renault Modus and an articulated lorry collided on Fitzwilliam Road’s junction with Chesterton Road at about 10.30am.

Fire crews from nearby Rotherham station attended and rescued the female Renault driver, who suffered possible broken fingers and complained of chest pains.

The male truck driver also had to be freed after being unable to get out because of leg injuries.

Both lanes of the Dalton-bound carriageway were closed for about 90 minutes.
