ROTHERHAM has become one of the first 50 towns in the UK—the first in South Yorkshire—to become a Heart Town.
Councillors and health bosses have signed up to the five-year British Heart Foundation project this week.
Heart Towns bring together communities through fund-raising, volunteering and awareness to help beat heart disease.
Cllr Ken Wyatt, Rotherham Borough Council’s Cabinet member for Health, said: “Heart Town shows we’re genuinely committed to making the borough a healthier, and happier, place to live.”
