The New York Stadium

IT'S official...Rotherham United's new ground will be known as the New York Stadium.

Chairman Tony Stewart along with Howard Webb today formally announced the name of £20m landmark venue on the former Guest and Chrimes Foundry site, which used to be known as New York.

Said chairman Tony Stewart: "The new stadium name is strongly rooted in more than 150 years of Rotherham's proud history of industry and enterprise, linking the old and the new eras and, I believe, it befits such a fantastic new stadium right at the heart of Rotherham"

i would have thought 'the council tax payers stadium' would have been more appropriate. wonder how many councillors will be turning up on matchday to enjoy the 'hospitality' . how about the advertiser does some proper reporting and let the public know?
