FURIOUS Andre Bester will this morning piece together a report to the RFU over the refereeing of Mattew Carley after Titans' hairline 24-23 defeat at Bedford.

In a controversial game, Bester was sent from the bench in the second half and had to watch from the stands after blowing a fuse following a string of contentious decisions.

Rotherham only lost out when Garry Law missed a penalty two minutes from time, denying them a deserved win.

Said Bester: "We couldn't understand the interpretation of the referee in certain areas of the game. That made it a fairly impossible task to win this game and the players deserved better.

"I will report this, there's no doubt about that, within the structures of the RFU."

Titans, playing an expansive game, had tries from Garry Law and Robin Copeland, but were denied a victory when Law missed a difficult penalty three minutes from time.

I was at the game, it was a great example of Championship rugby. I did however witness something unsavoury before the match when Mr Bester verbally abused one of the stewards in an aggressive manner. This was before the game started. I was not surprised when the ref had Mr Bester sent to the stands, he was obviously wound up by something and wanted to take his anger out on somebody. The excuse given is a pure smokescreen given by a man who on that day could not control his own emotions.

NB. Problems arose before the game when one of the Titans players had to fetch a ball back, which had been kicked into a garden behind the posts during the pre-game practice. Clearly, allowing a professional player to clamber over a wall, onto a garage roof and into a garden is dangerous and shouldn't have been allowed to happen by the stewards, with health and safety and insurance implications, hence Andre Bester's frustration.
