Power cut shuts down furnaces

Published date: 06 December 2011 | Published by: Gareth Dennison

Fire crews were called after furnaces were hit by a power cut at Furniss and White in North Anston.

FIREFIGHTERS were called out when a power cut caused two factory furnaces to solidify.

The outage caused the equipment, at Furniss & White Foundries in North Anston, to go into their “defensive” standby mode.

Crews from Aston and Maltby stations received the call shortly before 11.30pm on Monday and managed to restore power.

The same crews were called to a fire in a bedroom on Stone Lee Close, Dinnington, at 6.30am on Tuesday. The cause of the blaze is not yet known.
