Sir - Next Wednesday, November 30, millions of working people will be giving up a day’s pay to send a message to the coalition government.
The largest unions in the country have balloted for strike action against the public sector pension cuts. There will be a march and a rally in Rotherham town centre in support of the strikes, organised by unions and the community.
We will gather outside the Town Hall from 10am, and at 10:30am we will begin the march heading to a rally in All Saints' Square, after which, there will be coaches to transport strikers and supporters to Sheffield to take part in the TUC rally.
Please support and join the strikers! I do not work in the public sector. I am not in a union. I am not going to be receiving a public sector pension… but I am joining the strikers, and urge anyone reading this to do the same.
Around the world people everywhere are rising up against the way the capitalist system insists on squeezing every penny and gram of wealth out of working people for the benefit of the elite ultra-rich. The November 30 strike should be seen in this context.
Do you agree with the strike? Are you taking part? Do you think the planned action is wrong. Tell us what you think by using the "write a comment" buttons or click here to join our poll.
Although this strike is about pensions, all working people, public or private sector, under- or unemployed, are in the firing line – whether we know it or not – and we must look at the way the economy, the country and the world is going and see where our enemies lie.
The next strike must be bigger and wider… It is time to join the dots. It is time to stop screaming at the telly and realise that the way to improve ALL our lives is unified, serious and committed action.
One march won’t change anything – and no-one is saying it will… …millions of us, calmly, grimly, seriously demanding fundamental change cannot be ignored. Turn out on the 30th! 10am, outside the Town Hall… bring your drums and whistles!
