ENERGY giant E-On is to build a £120m bio-mass power plant on the site of the old Tinsley Towers.

The plant, which will generate enough power for 40,000 homes by burning waste wood, will create around 30 jobs.

Construction on the site, at Blackburn Meadows, is scheduled to start at the end of this month.

The power station will UK-sourced recycled waste wood to power the plant and, E-On says that, as far as possible, it will use local companies throughout the construction of the 30-megawatt energy plant.
