Three flee as kitchen blazes.

THREE people escaped with smoke inhalation after a chip pan fire in the early hours of the morning.

Two men and a woman, all in their late teens or early twenties, escaped from a first floor flat on Briery Walk, Greasbrough, following the incident at around 4am on yesterday .

A fire service spokesman said that three fire engines from Rotherham and Dearne stations were “quickly on the scene” after the blaze was reported, adding: “the three residents were already out of the flat when fire crews arrived.

“Firefighters extinguished the fire which was contained in the kitchen. 

“The three casualties who were all late teens to early twenties, went to hospital with slight smoke inhalation.”

The fire crews were able to leave the scene at around 4.40am.
