Award for crimebusting father and son

A FATHER and son who chased and caught a bag snatcher in Rotherham town centre have been awarded police commendations.

Shaun Broadhurst (41), and his son Kane (21), both work at their tattoo studio in the Red Lion Yard.

They came to the rescue of an elderly woman whose bag was stolen in nearby All Saints’ Square.

Chf Supt Richard Tweed said: “Without a thought for their own personal safety, Shaun and Kane pursued and apprehended the offender, ensuring his arrest and the return of the elderly woman's possessions.”

A 19-year-old man was convicted of theft and sentenced to 12 weeks in prison.
