Housing plan for 160-year-old pub

Published date: 17 August 2010 | Published by: Gareth Dennison

A PLANNING application has been submitted for permission to turn a boarded-up pub into housing.

Mir Zaman has asked to change the terms of use at the Royal George from drinking establishment to dwelling houses.

He must prove that there is justification for losing the 1840-dated public house, on Pitt Street at Kimberworth. Its unsuitability for use as a community facility must also be shown.

Consultation ends on September 1 and a decision will be made by Rotherham Borough Council’s planning board in October.
