Westleigh to begin building in Wath

WORK is to start on 89 new affordable homes in Rotherham with a £4.5 million grant from a national homes agency.

The houses on Manvers Way, Wath, are being built by East Midlands property developer Westleigh Developments which received funding from the Homes and Communities Agency.

The scheme will see 33 two-bedroom houses, 25 three-bedroom houses, two four-bedroom homes and six four-bedroom bungalows built in partnership with Great Places Housing Group.

Of these, 56 will be available for affordable rent and ten for shared ownership.

A further 23 two and three-bedroom homes will also be built for private sale, 15 of which will be available through the government’s Home Buy Direct initiative.

Construction is anticipated to be completed by March 2012 with the first homes ready to move into in summer 2011.
