History: one of the pictures from the exhibition.

COMMUNITY historians are staging an exhibition on a famous Wath family dating back 200 years.

“Newhill and the Payne family” is the title of the exhibition by Wath Community History Group at Wath Library from today until August 6.

John Payne had Newhill Hall built 225 years ago in 1785.

Only the family mausoleum remains on the edge of Newhill Park, but many photographs and documents have survived and feature in the exhibition.
