Businesses challenged to ‘show us how to make money’

Published date: 20 January 2016 | Published by: Admin

BUSINESSES, community groups and individuals are being urged to show off their money-making skills as part of an annual charity challenge.

The 2016 Master Cutler's Challenge will see participants given £50 and challenged to turn it into as much profit as possible, with proceeds going to Rotherham Hospice  and St Luke’s Hospice.

It will be launched by this year’s Master Cutler, Craig McKay, at the historic Cutlers’Hall in Sheffield city centre on February 4.

More than 500 teams have taken part in the challenge since its launch in 2008, raising over £1 million for a range of charities.

Mr McKay, the head of Sheffield engineering firm Evenort Ltd, said he chose the two hospices in recognition of the work they do supporting not just patients with terminal illnesses but also their families.

“We have had a great response from companies signing up early but there are still many more that we need to get on board if we are going to make this the biggest and best Master Cutler's Challenge ever,” he said.

“By the time we get to our launch evening on February 4, I want to be able to say we truly do have a challenge that represents the very best of Sheffield City Region businesses.”
