Routine GP appointments continue to be available throughout winter as part of the continue drive to improve access for Rotherham patients.
A Rotherham based health trust which provides a range of services across the borough to people experiencing difficulties with their mental health has issued the following advice for residents who may be experiencing more than just the winter blues over the Christmas period.
Although winter weather and snow can be fun, it is also associated with an increase in illnesses and injuries. There’s more to feeling ‘under the weather’ than most people realise. Cold and wintry conditions can cause severe illness and, in the worst cases, people can die. The cold weather, combined with low levels of sunlight after the clocks go back, means that many of us can feel in poor health.
At this time of year, coughs and colds are common, especially amongst children. This is normal and you'll normally start to feel better within 7 to 10 days, but no medicines will prevent them.
