BRAITHWELL YORKSHIRE COUNTRYWOMEN’S ASSOCIATION: The New Year programme started at the January meeting with speaker Wayne Ashton, pastor from Wickersley Methodist Church. His talk was based around laughter being the best form of medicine. The competition for Something Humorous was: 1st Glenys Haynes, 2nd Sue McDermott, 3rd Jill Pawson. February 11 – Walking Group, circular walk from Welbeck, meet in Dukeries car park 9.30am. February 16 – Lent lunches commence at Clifton Village Church noon (every Tuesday thereafter until Easter). February 18 -– Luncheon Club 12.30pm, venue TBA, contact Christine Smith 01709 532474. February 25 – The Cutlers Hall tour and afternoon tea 1pm, tickets £11, meet at Centertainments to catch tram into Sheffield, further details at next YCA meeting on February 9. March 8 – Party Night, BYCA 33 birthday celebration at the Ruddle Centre. March 10 – Walking Group, walk TBA. March 12 – Homecraft Show at Wetherby Church Centre, entries can be left with the Braithwell Homecraft Group at The Masters House, Thursdays 2-4pm. April 13 – West Riding Spring Lunch at Hambleton Village Hall, tickets £12, speaker Katie Chaplin on The Costumes of Japan. The next meeting of BYCA will be held on February 9 7.30pm at The Ruddle Centre, speaker Ray Battye on The English Language, Place Names and Surnames. The competition is A Map.
