VIDEO: Guests got groovy at the Weekender’s Swinging 60s event

More than 180 visitors enjoyed a fun-packed show at The Pastures Lodge Mexborough, featuring tributes to Tom Jones, Sonny and Cher, Dusty Springfield, Petula Clark, Lulu and Gene Pitney.

A two course lunch was served — pie, chips and peas followed by chocolate gateaux — then guests were up on their feet to strut their stuff on the dancefloor and sing along to 60’s favourites.

There was plenty to celebrate on the day too — Lesley Martin from Mexborough was out with her girlfriends for the first time in a year celebrating beating cancer; and it was Happy 96th Birthday to Mr John Barrowclough from Rotherham.

Event organiser, Tracie Midgley, said: “This is the second Swinging 60s afternoon we have staged, and we were thrilled that this event drew an even bigger crowd.

“We were delighted with the response and it was great to see so many people singing and dancing on a Tuesday afternoon.
