VIDEO: Band hoping single proves a Christmas cracker

CHART success is A Shaw Thing for a family band hoping their Christmas single will prove a cracker with music lovers.

The group, made up of brothers and sisters Dylan and Michelle Shaw and Stuart and Lauren Firth and backed by Rotherham's Breaking Entertainment, are climbing the charts with their seasonal smash, Christmas Shopping.

They are performing a series of gigs in the Dearne Valley during December — including a couple of spots at the recent Conisbrough Christmas Market — and have clocked up thousands of hits on YouTube.

And as of this week, the single had climbed as high as No 48 in the iTunes alternative download chart.

Dylan, who used to perform in The Mucky Blonds and hails from Conisbrough, said: “I’ve been writing since I was about 14 and have had a few little hits in my time but this is my first Christmas single.

“It’s about bringing Christmas back to how it’s only once a year so we should make the most of it and stop moaning about it.”

The single is available on iTunes.
