Theatre group's drama "with a twist"

A YOUTH drama group is gearing up for a performance “with a twist” tackling the subject of mental health.

Rotherham Youth Theatre’s production of Don’t Judge a Book... explores the theme of mental illness and how it is perceived.

The show, written by Gav Blincow and Micheal Skjold, will take place in two instalments next Thursday (17) at Rotherham Civic Theatre.

The drama group was created by primary school teacher Micheal Skjold and has been running for around 10 years.

It started with a small group but has now progressed to two groups of 11-19 year-olds on a Monday and two groups of 7-11 year-olds on a Saturday, both run by Katie Eastburn.

A spokesman for the theatre group said: “We are all about giving children a chance to have a dramatic experience.

“All shows are written by local writers along with lots of input from the children.

“Anyone with any abilities or from any background can join.”

The youth theatre has been split into two groups, one of which will perform at 6.45pm and the second at 8pm.

Tickets are £5.
